Job Description
Position Title: Activities Coordinator
Reports To: Director
Pay Rate: $19 / hour
FLSA: Part Time (Afternoon, evening, and some Saturday hours)

Position Summary: The Blaine-Birch Bay Park and Recreation District is currently seeking an Activity Coordinator to plan, organize, coordinate, administer, and promote athletic, fitness, and recreation programs for the community’s youth and adults. This includes after-school programs, summer programs, and camps. Monitor and supervise indoor and outdoor facilities and provide excellent customer service to individuals and rental groups. Create and implement special events through community partnerships.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Primarily: Plan, implement, supervise, and promote current and future recreational programs and activities.
  • Lead After School kids’ programs that require supervision of children ages 5-18 years old.
  • Plan and create youth field trips and recreational programming.
  • Work with all staff at community events such as Splash Days and Holiday Lights Obstacle Dash.
  • Ensure a safe and fun environment at the Birch Bay Activity Center and Blaine Pavilion Building.
  • Clean and maintain recreational equipment and light janitorial work.
  • Input participant information into recreation software and take attendance when needed.
  • Assist with light office tasks.
  • Basic lawn mowing around facility and light maintenance
  • Upkeep and Clean sports and exercise equipment, gym floors, and basic office cleaning
  • Collect admission fees for recreational activities, facility, or equipment rentals.
  • Check out equipment and process rentals
  • Work weekends, evenings, and at local events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

The Candidate should possess the following:
  • Polite, respectful, and professional. Community oriented, fair, honest, and have good reasoning skills.
  • Team player who can also work independently and is willing to learn new skills.
  • Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public.
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Experience in recreation fields or event planning is a plus.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, insurance, and a good driving record.
  • Must pass background checks.
  • Red Cross First Aid/CPR certificate or able to obtain and maintain within 3 months of hire.
  • Operate a computer with standard office software.
